Type S thermocouple for zirconia sintering furnaces

Aftermarket replacement part. Not an OEM product. Not manufactured, endorsed or sponsored by any furnace manufacturer.

Platinum/platinum-rhodium (Pt10Rh–Pt) replacement thermocouple for high-temperature zirconia sintering furnaces up to 1600 °C. Calibrated wire pair, ceramic twin-bore insulation and furnace-specific connector on request.

Description

The type S (Pt10Rh–Pt) thermocouple is the temperature sensor at the heart of every zirconia sintering furnace. Because sintering programs run close to the material limit of the sensor, thermocouples drift over time — the most common cause of failed translucency, slumping or brittle restorations.

This replacement element is manufactured from calibrated noble-metal wire pairs with tolerance class matching typical OEM sensors. The twin-bore alumina insulation protects the wires across the full operating range up to 1600 °C. We supply bare-wire elements as well as versions with pre-fitted connectors and compensation cable for the most common sintering furnace families.

Key features

  • Calibrated Pt/Pt-Rh10 wire pair, tolerance class matching typical OEM sensors
  • Alumina twin-bore insulation for stable readings up to 1600 °C
  • Available with bare leads or pre-fitted connector + compensation cable
  • Length, sheath diameter and bend radius made to your furnace model
  • Every batch checked for insulation resistance before dispatch

Furnace compatibility

This part is a dimensionally and functionally equivalent replacement for the following furnace families:

  • Sintering furnaces with type S sensor input, e.g. Ivoclar Vivadent Programat® S2
  • Dekema Austromat® series sintering furnaces
  • Nabertherm sintering furnaces with type S sensor
  • Most other zirconia sintering furnaces using 1600 °C class sensors

Frequently asked questions

How do I know my sintering thermocouple is drifting?

Typical signs: sintered restorations come out more translucent or matte than usual, bridges slump, or the same program suddenly produces different results between two furnaces of the same type. A calibration check against a reference thermometer confirms it.

Will this part fit my furnace without modification?

We produce each element to the length, sheath geometry and connector of your furnace family. Send us brand and model with your inquiry and we confirm exact fitment before you order.
